Erotica collection: Goodbye Moderation, Lust

Lust. A common ingredient in contemporary erotica and romance. But these stories and characters usually play by certain rules when it comes to lust, eroticism, and arousal.

But what happens when the idea of lust sparks thoughts and desires that aren't so tidy? That are perhaps a little messy, a little edgy, a little taboo? Enter this collection of erotica: "Goodbye Moderation: Lust" (2016) edited by Lola Sparkles and published by Sexy Little Pages. This is a collection of eleven erotic stories that throws out the rule book when it comes to sex and attraction.

These stories are hot, but they also include the raw edge of the urges, perversions, and frustrations of sex.

If the title "Lust" brings to mind one of the seven deadly sins, then you're on the right track: Lust is the first volume in a series of erotica collections that will use the seven deadly sins to explore the dark and perplexing aspects of sexuality and arousal. The next book slated in the series will be Goodbye Moderation: Gluttony.

Lust is certainly the center of this collection. There's BDSM and Power Exchange, a dissection of social taboos, and many stories confront the imperfection and frustrations of the human body. But each story is erotic and meant to arouse the reader. Just because we play on the edge in this collection doesn't mean readers won't leave unsatisfied. Though this collection is dark and edgy, many stories do end happily —  if not ever after, at least for now.
My story "Wildest Dreams" is included in this anthology. I was intrigued by this idea when I saw the call for submissions as the editor did not require a happily ever after in this collection, and my story doesn't have a particularly "happy" ending. My story dissects all the tumultuous emotions someone has when they are in an amazing relationship but for one reason or another they continue to experience lust and deep physical attraction toward a toxic person from their past. It doesn't make any sense, and the guilt can be intensely terrible – but what if those thoughts and dreams feel so damn good, you just have to indulge them?

This story is very personal for me. Though the things that happen in the story are fiction, the emotions behind them are very real for me. Writing this story felt simultaneously vulnerable and liberating. Along with the sentiments behind the plot, I also included two things that are very important to me as a writer: a polyamorous dynamic and a visibly disabled main character.

Something that struck me about this collection is that of the eleven stories, half of them include main characters with some type of disability. I'm honored to be a part of that representation.

Sexy Little Pages has a wonderful mission: "we aim to publish for everybody and every body, across the whole delicious spectrum of gender, ability, and desires." So if you are interested in reading erotica from a variety of perspectives in body, gender, and sexual identities be sure to check out the books from this publisher.

And if you would like to indulge in a bit of edgier temptation, definitely pick up Goodbye Moderation: Lust. Below are a couple tid-bits from my story. Enjoy – I won't tell ;)

10 Reasons I Include Porn in My Marriage

Type “porn” and “marriage” in Google and a myriad of articles appear fretting about how porn is utterly ruining marriage. A fairly representative post can be found here. If that one's not scathing enough, read this one.  I personally used to have lots of issues with porn. But now I’m a pro-porn advocate and I believe people can make porn a healthy part of a balanced sexuality and even, yes, marriage. Below are ten reasons I intentionally include porn in mine.
1.Strengthen trust with honesty and shared vulnerability

Because we are open about the role porn (and erotica) plays for us individually and in our marriage, we can tell each other truthfully when something we see turns us on, when we want to try something we’ve seen, when we are in the mood to watch something, or any number of other things. We don’t have to worry about lying or sugar coating the truth about our desires, and that honesty means we trust each other with the information. And the truth is, hearing, “Wow, that woman…

Book Review: The Mistress Manual: The Good Girl's Guide to Female Dominance

I must confess that I become quite melancholy this time of year because I dreadfully miss going "back to school." But this time around, I almost felt like I was back in school because I had this book. Mistress Lorelei Powers has such a wonderfully authoritative and insightful voice with just enough snark, charm, and wit. I truly felt as though I were her pupil completing some very important homework as I studied this text.

Though I am involved in BDSM on some levels my interests rest mostly in fetishes rather than power exchange. So I admit that I consumed this book as a reader just as much as I did a sex blogger. And the experience was delightful.

This book is the perfect length and quite reader friendly. There is a lot of information packed into this manual, but it is enjoyable to peruse a second or third time and great to have as a reference.

The first part of the book addresses many concepts and issues in female dominance. What if you are reluctant to take the dominant…
